"Party-Movies" nannte man Filme wie DEAD & BREAKFAST einst, als man sich noch zu Videoabenden versammelte und nach launiger visueller Untermalung für Bier, Pizza und Chips verlangte.

Nun kann es Matthew Leutwylers dritte Regiearbeit nicht ganz mit den Müttern aller Partyfilme, Sam Raimis EVIL DEAD 2 und Peter Jacksons BRAINDEAD (bei dessen Aufführung im Rahmen des FFF vor zwölf Jahren es fast zu Ausschreitungen gekommen wäre), aufnehmen, aber mit Crowdpleaser THE UNDEAD vom Vorjahr ist er nicht nur in Sachen Bodycount gut vergleichbar.

Jedes Haushaltsgerät (von der Harke bis zur Kettensäge) ist den sechs auf der Durchreise befindlichen jungen Menschen, die in Lovelock in einem von David Carradine (Gastaufritt, weil auch Nichte Ever mitspielt!) geführten Bed & Breakfast übernachten, recht und billig, um aus dem Texas-Kaff lebend wieder raus zu kommen.

Spätestens in der zweiten Halbzeit entwickelt die Trash-Komödie einen delirenden Splatter-Charme, wie ihn nur das Waten durch erfrischend geschmacklos angesetzten Hirneintopf haben kann.

Mit Portia de Rossi (ALLY MCBEAL), Jeremy Sisto (WRONG TURN) und Gina Phillips (JEEPERS CREEPERS) Genre gerecht besetzt und mit einem Countryrapper als kommentierenden Chor griechischen Vorbilds. Let's get the party started!

Six friends are on their way to a wedding in Galveston when their RV breaks down. They are forced to stop for the night at a quaint bed and breakfast in the sleepy town of Lovelock. However, the mysterious deaths of the inn's owner and his chef make the unfortunate travelers the prime suspects in the double homicide.

Before the local law enforcement can mete out Texas justice, supernatural forces manifest themselves and the (already bizarre) local residents are possessed by evil spirits. The stranded wedding party are trapped in the B&B by hordes of maniacal zombiefied townsfolk. Armed with a rusty chainsaw, a can of gasoline, and half a box of shotgun shells the brutal battle for survival begins in earnest. Much mayhem ensues - and a great night at the movies is guaranteed for all.

In the vein of classic party-splatter-movies like Raimi's EVIL DEAD 2 and Jackson's BRAINDEAD comes Matthew Leutwyler's high strung and very bloody bodycountathon that has everything you need to enjoy your six pack: virus ridden rednecks, Lynchian absurdist humour, deadly tools from forks to, yes!, chainsaws and David Carradine as a Buddhist inn-keeper. Suffice it to say: They mess with Bill - and everybody else!
