Und noch einmal Lovecraft. Diesmal darf der eigenbrötlerische Schreiber sogar selbst in Erscheinung treten – verkörpert von keinem Geringeren als Jeffrey Combs. H.P. besucht eine von skurrilen Mönchen bewachte Bibliothek und kopiert dort drei Geschichten aus dem geheimnisumwitterten NECRONOMICON – sofort droht sich das Tor zu einer anderen Dimension zu öffnen. (Es bestätigt sich, was wir alle schon immer befürchtet haben: Lovecrafts Werke sind in Wahrheit Sachbücher). Yuzna lässt das leider etwas aus der Mode gekommene Anthologie-Format wieder aufleben und fügt seinem bewährten Mix aus Gore und Groteske diesmal auch eine Prise Gothic bei. Die Bandbreite reicht von glibbrigem Tentakel-Terror (THE DROWNED, das Debut von Eröffnungsfilm-Regisseur Christophe Gans) über eiskaltes Grauen (THE COLD von GAMERA-Dompteur Kaneko Shusuke) bis zur überdrehten ROSEMARY’S BABY-Variante (WHISPERS von Yuzna selbst).

Lovecraft, yet again! The reclusive writer (played by none other than Jeffrey Combs) takes a trip to a library and copies down three tales from the infamous NECRONOMICON. Yuzna revives the anthology-format and injects his proven formula of gore and grotesque with a dose of good old gothic. The three episodes cover everything from tentacled terrors to a hysteric variation on ROSEMARY’S BABY. The first episode marks the debut of opening-film director Christophe Gans.
